Local instrumental combo smRts are launching their debut album “sun sets on a new tomorrow” at the Rosemount Hotel, this Friday 10 September 2010.
“sun sets on a new tomorrow” was recorded by Matt Bairstow (one of the bands 3 guitarists and drummer for Injured Ninja) and Will Hooper (Wind Waker’s bassist).
Recording took place at smRts’ practice place, using a dozen microphones carefully placed on the equipment and around the room. Matt has then spent a couple of months mixing the tracks and the recordings were sent to Bob Weston (Shellac, Mission of Burma) at Chicago Mastering Services for final mastering.
The end result is 35 minutes of heart-warming, upbeat melancholic melodies and strong rhythms. “sun sets on a new tomorrow” takes on European late 60s/early 70s pop and surf music and dives into the depths of Eastern European traditional and classical music.
The album will be launched on Friday 10 September 2010 at the Rosemount Hotel with special guests: awesome jazz youngsters Rolling Pin, surf/prog trio Wind Waker and favourite newcomers Erasers. $10, doors open 8pm. Proudly presented by Heartless Robot Productions and Wild Zero Events.
